Hugh E. Nesbitt, Ohio State '14
1st Chairman

1949 - 1953

Regarded as the Founder of the DU Educational Foundation, Brother Nesbitt provided the initial gift for the founding of the Foundation in 1949.  Prior to starting the Foundation he served as the 17th President of Delta Upsilon.  He then served as Chairman of the DUEF until his death in 1953.

Edwin L. English, Ohio State '22
2nd Chairman
1953 - 1980
 
Brother English is a co-founder of the DUEF in 1949 and is the longest serving Chairman in DUEF history, serving over 27 years.  He served as Chairman until his untimely passing in 1980.

J. Paul McNamara, Miami '29
3rd Chairman

1980 - 1981
 
Brother McNamara also served as the 32nd President of the Fraternity from 1981-1983.  He returned to the Foundation Board following his term as President.  He was a 1985 recipient of the DU Distinguished Alumni Award, the Fraternity's highest honor.  Brother McNamara passed away in 1994.

W. D. Watkins, North Carolina '27
4th Chairman
1981 - 1982

Brother Watkins also served as the 29th President of the Fraternity from 1973-1977.  He returned to the Foundation Board following his term as President.  He was a 1995 recipient of the DU Distinguished Alumni Award, the Fraternity's highest honor.  Brother Watkins passed away in 1996.

Herbert Brownell, Nebraska '24 
5th Chairman
1982 - 1984

After a distinguished career in law and politics, serving as U.S. Attorney General under President Eisenhower, Brother Brownell served as the 31st President of the Fraternity from 1979-1981.  He joined the Foundation Board following his term as President.  He was a 1990 recipient of the DU Distinguished Alumni Award, the Fraternity's highest honor.  Brother Brownell passed away in 1996.

6th Chairman
1984 - 1985
 
Brother Pollock also served as the 30th President of the Fraternity from 1977-1979.  He joined the Foundation Board following his term as President.   Brother Pollock passed away in 1999.

Maurice S. Mandel, Chicago '55 
7th Chairman 
1985 - 1989           

Brother Mandel is one of only four men in history to serve as Chairman of both the DU Fraternity Board of Directors and the DU Foundation Board of Trustees.  He is a 2001 recipient of the DU Distinguished Alumni Award, the Fraternity's highest honor.  Brother Mandel retired from the DUEF Board in 2012.

Edgar F. Heizer, Jr., Northwestern '51
8th Chairman
1989 - 1997          
 
Brother Heizer left the chairmanship of the DUEF in 1997 and is one of only four men in history to serve as Chairman of both the DU Fraternity Board of Directors and the DU Foundation Board of Trustees. He was a 2005 recipient of the DU Distinguished Alumni Award, the Fraternity's highest honor.  Brother Heizer continued to serve as a DUEF Trustee until his death in 2009.
